Calgary
While we liked Lethbrige a lot we decided that it was time to move on to Calgary. Our new home it the Calgary West RV Park. We arrived at about 12:30 PM, set up, had lunch and then went touring. Our first stop was the Olympic Park where we visited the ski jump facility from the 1988 Olympics.
We were still living in England and I remember watching Fast Eddie the English contender for Olympic Gold in Ski Jumping entertain us with his fearlessness in taking the jumps. I wouldn't have done it for a million dollars, especially after looking down the jump today.
Our next stop was at Fort Calgary the second Royal Mounted Police Fort in Western Canada. This was a neat peek into Canadian history. The mounties were some brave guys.
I was so impressed that I decided to join the force. How do I look as a Mountie?
Mary didn't cotton to the idea of me becoming a Mountie at my advanced age and decided to skip town in this 1928 Model A Ford Roadster.
Calgary is a very modern cosmipolitan city with a population of just over a million people. The city has a very vibrant and active feel to it.

Tomorrow we will toward Grande Prairie and leave the major metropolitan areas behind us until we arrive in Anchorage. The only major attraction in Edmonton is the really huge shopping mall so we decided to pass on a visit there. We will stock up our supplies in Grande Prairie for our Alaska Highway adventure.
