Chena Hot Springs
Our adventure today took us to Chena Hot Springs about 56 miles east of Fairbanks. We enjoyed a good soak in the mineral hot springs.

Jack in Chena Hot Spring
After our soak we drove to Red Squirrel Campground for a nice picnic lunch. The scene was serene unlike the thousands of Alaskan mosquitos who wanted to feast on our blood.
Our flower find today was a Wild Iris on the shore of the pond at Red Squirrel Campground.
We also saw a road sign we are unlikely to see in California. When driving the Chena Hot Springs road in winter you have to keep an eye out for dog sled teams crossing the road.
Dog Team Crossing SignAfter returning to Fairbanks we took care of some chores. First we stopped at the NAPA store and picked up the locking lug nuts I ordered for the Jeep. Then I brought Mary to the Winnebago and found a barber for a haircut and made a visit to the Fairbanks Imaging Center to have more blood withdrawn to see if my hemoglobin is where it should be. Then I rested in the Winnebago while Mary went shopping at Fred Meyers.
The weather was rainy and cool today.
