Fairbanks Day 3

It was a quiet day in Fairbanks, Alaska. The highlight of the day was a visit to Creamer's Field Migratory Waterfowl Refuge on the north side of Fairbanks.

Creamer's Dairy

The fields of the Dairy provide a refuge for migrating birds such as the Sandhill Crane and waterfowl. The fields are maintained to provide a habitat and food source for the birds.

Canola Field

While most of the Sandhill Cranes continue further north after stopping at Creamer's Field they do have a few that hang around all summer.

A bonus feature of the fields is the variety of wild flowers that grow there.

Small Flowered Pestemon

Siberian Aster

Common Yarrow

Tomorrow we will travel back to Denali for three days inside the park. Then we will return to Fairbanks and start heading south. I won't be able to update the blog until we get back from Denali.
